Special Edition 2

The picture of me, similar to the one in the previous post, is to prove that I visited the Beverly Arts Center.

The first picture is of a painting that you see as soon as you walk upstairs into the exibit. I liked this picture because it reminded me of home. I'm from Plainfield, and what you see here, is a plain field with some trees in the background.

The second picture is a painting of a box of apple jacks with a few apples and a few jacks scattered in front of it. I went to the BAC with my girlfriend, and she thought it was cute so I snapped a picture of it.

The third picture is a painting of what I perceive to be a lake. I liked this picture because the color contrast in the water. I'm assuming the artist was trying to capture the light reflecting off of the lake, and although it looks as if maybe a nuclear accident has occured, I still like it.

Special Edition 1

This is the special edition blog of when I visited the Art Institute of Chicago.

The picture of me standing in front of the building is for proof that I actually went to this place.

The first picture was my favorite piece of "modern art". I like it because it reminded me of a comic, and when i was younger I was very into superhero's and whatnot.

The second picture is a picture of a painting of the ocean with some pretty intense waves. I liked this because I actually consider it art, and unlike the first picture, I believe that it took some talent to make. Water is not an easy thing to draw, but this artist did a great job, obviously, as it is included in this museum's collection.

The third picture, although posted sideways, is a rendition of the last supper. I like this painting because it is not what you normally see when artists portray this event. It seems rather cartoonish, making it very interesting to me.

We'll call it week 11

I accidentally mis-titled a week, so there is no week 11, but this should stand in just fine.

Spreads...

Unfortunately, it seems that I have saved the photos of my magazine spreads under the wrong format; or at least it wont open on my PC (saved them with a Mac)

Thanks to modern technology, the spreads are still able to be viewed by going to this website- http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/look-at-this/8018884 - just click "preview, and you can look at all of the spreads from my magazine.

Week 13

Cover and Back Cover
The Cover (left), titled "Look at This" to attract a reader to pick up the magazine, features my favorite illustration that I have done over the semester and the back cover(right) is an advertisement styled page for the SXU football team.

Week 10

MEMORY
The assignment for this week was to create three images out of memory. They had to contain the same object in all three pictures, but in a different setting or angle, or some other variety.
The object that I chose to illustrate was a trophy that I won back when I was younger for winning first place in a baseball tournament. So for each picture, I drew some aspect of the trophy in relation to the surrounding area. In the first one, I drew the figure of the trophy with my blue wall in the background. I made the trophy have a luster by using the mesh tool in Ai. The second picture is the trophy on the shelf, without the figure showing. The third picture is the right side of the trophy in relation to a notre dame poster that is hanging in my room. I contsructed all of these illustrations using the pen tool in adobe illustrator.
